So, for all of you out there who are going to vote for a Democrat in the next election for the sole purpose of "ending the war in Iraq" (not even the SOLE purpose, but one of the reasons) and "bringing peace back to the world" don't get your hopes up. It really makes me mad that people are affiliated with one party because they think we need to end the war in Iraq. Regardless of if we really need to or not, the point is, is that it is not going to happen. Everyone knows, including Democrats that if we just cut and run...it is going to be worse than it is now. I am not going to say we have destroyed their country...because we have done many great things over there...and yes, I know many many people that have served a tour, or two in Iraq...no I am not in the ARMY but I have been around the ARMY my entire life...I am married to a soldier and every man in my family has served or is in the ARMY, and my sister is in the ARMY...so before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I will finish. First...we need to pick a freaking side. We can't one day be supportive of this group of people, and the next day help this group, etc. We can't just go over there and try to change a country's way of being (sure we can try but I don't think it is working all that greatly! :])...especially if they don't want our help...and especially if they don't want to change (yes, there are people over there who do want to change and I realize this, but there are more people who are impervious to this whole situation). We can't go over there and force our way of life on them. I am also not saying that this war should not have happened, but eventually I really think it would have. However, I think that we should have gone about it in a different way. We should have gone in there with some sort of an exit stratedy. But before anyone wants to jump the gun and criticize our President, lets keep in mind that no war has occurred (that I can think of, someone please correct me if I am wrong I welcome constructive critism) where it didn't benefit us to be a part of it...one of the reasons we are a super power is because of this. Think about it, why would we be apart of something that wasn't to our benefit? It's the truth. Not neccessarily something that I agree with, but maybe that is why I am not the leader of a country. Anyway, the reason I began writing this in the first place, is because the Democrats just failed to pass a bill that would bring most troops home in nine months. And the Senate can come up with whatever excuses they want as to why they didn't pass it, but the point is that they didn't pass it. Even an attempt to pass it would have been different than them voting against it. So I think instead of so and so lying and saying they are going to end the war in Iraq and blablabla...lets be realistic, instead of running partially on the basis of ending it...lets get someone who is serious about fixing the problem. Here is a quote from an article on Yahoo news I read today..."The House is going to devote its full attention to providing health care to children, promoting energy independence to improve America's security, reducing global warming, and responsibly redeploying U.S. forces in Iraq." So, where does that say they are going to try and end the war in Iraq? Ahh yes, it doesn't. Face it people, Hilary nor Obama (God help us if either is elected) is going to end the war...they know as well as everyone else that it is not something that can just be terminated at the drop of a hat. I just remember the Democrats saying it is time for change, and time for them to take control of the House, and blablablablablablablablablablabla (times infinite), lets face it, they haven't done anything that they said they were going to do (again, please correct me if I am wrong). So, the point? There really isn't one, regardless of who is in "control" nothing is ever going to be perfect...or even close to it. I am not saying I agree with everything Georgey boy has done, believe me there are many things I disagree with, but he is our President, and I am an American, and it is part of my duty to support my country and its President Democrat (ahh), or Republican. And no one for one second think I do not support what our men and women are doing over there...I am more than grateful to them, and proud of what they are doing. And that is that...
